Subject to my work is allways people and more specific their (non-) communication. Great inspiration to me are off course the people close to me. In my work I reflect on miscommunication, annoyances, differences, judgement, sharing dreams and love. To put it in perspective and to make it recognizable. Because it is about the little things. The things you don't say, hold back out of respect or to keep the peace. The things you don't have to say, because it's in a look. The things you don't have to say, because the other knows...And to me it's important to capture the essence of an emotion in just a few lines because I think the simplicity of the image really contributes to the tale-telling and humorous character of my paintings. A bit like a good comic.
